WITBANK HOSPITAL NURSING SCHOOL GENERAL NOTES

  • To be considered for admission to higher certificate or diploma programs at Witbank Hospital Nursing School, prospective students must meet the minimum requirements set forth by the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent school leaving certificate. Provisional admission may be based on scores obtained in the Grade 12 June/September exams or proof that the applicant has been granted study leave by their employer. However, the final decision for acceptance will be determined by the final Grade 12 results, confirmation of study leave, and the applicant’s age (as the age limit for all college programs is between 55-60). Additionally, there may be specific requirements for certain programs, and the school uses the Admission Point System (APS) to assign point values to NSC subjects or equivalents.

For instance, in order to enroll in a Basic Diploma, you must have a minimum APS of 18 and a NSC/equivalent pass in Biology/Life Science at Level 4 or the D Symbol, as well as English at Level 3 or the E Symbol.

Even if you meet the minimum requirements, you won’t automatically be accepted into the program or registered. Tests and interviews will be required of candidates in order to further screen them.
    Candidates who have post-matriculant experience or a certificate related to health will be registered according to the quota for that group, which is as follows:
    Scholars: 50% of candidates who hold a certificate from pre-NSC Grade 12: 20% of candidates who have post-matric experience or a certificate related to health: 10% of Active Duty Officers: 20% Please be aware that the college’s admission requirements are subject to change, and
    will make significant investments in nurses for ECDoH facilities;
