Walter Sisulu University (WSU) prospectus is a pamphlet distributed to prospective students to entice them to apply for admission. It usually contains information about the institution and the courses it offers, as well as instructions on how to apply and the advantages of accepting a seat. Each course or combination of courses offered by various universities has its own prospectus.
Walter Sisulu University was founded on July 1, 2005, when the old Border Technikon, Eastern Cape Technikon, and the University of Transkei merged to form Walter Sisulu University. Under the Higher Education Act of 1997 (Act No. 101 of 1997), as amended, WSU is classified as a comprehensive institution.
In order to increase access to higher education, WSU has positioned itself as a gateway university. As a growing, all-encompassing university, WSU provides students with a diverse range of academic options, articulation, and mobility across qualifications ranging from certificates to diplomas, degrees, and postgraduate studies.
WSU is strategically located in the Eastern Cape Province and spans an area of about 1,000 square kilometers, including both urban and rural areas.
It gives the university a platform to interact with development forces in order to tailor its programs and research efforts to the needs of the local community, province, and nation.
