Explore the details regarding Student Accommodations at Port Elizabeth TVET College for the academic year 2024-2025 on this page. The college’s residences provide a nurturing and supportive learning atmosphere, offering students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to live together and enjoy their basic rights within a healthy and educational environment. To secure a place in the residence, students must meet all the admission requirements specified in the PE College Code of Conduct.

Residence admission and re-admission

  • The residence will be reserved for all students who meet all admission requirements to PE College.
  • Admissions and re-admissions applications will be reviewed on a trimester, semester, and annual basis. To be re-admitted to residences, all students, including those who boarded in residence the previous year, must apply in the prescribed manner.
  • A student may be re-admitted only after their account has been fully settled. There will be no space reserved for an applicant who has unpaid fees.

The first-time applicant’s application for housing as well as re-admission requests for students who were residents the previous year must be submitted on separate forms.

Admission Criteria

Academic performance

  • The average score used by Academic Admissions will be used to determine whether first-year applicants are admitted. Senior applicants must have passed a predetermined number of subjects as determined by the college and bursars in order to be re-admitted to a residence.

Distance

If there is more demand than there are available residences, applicants who live outside the Nelson Mandela Metropole will be given preference. If an applicant falls under one of the following categories and lives within the Metropole, they will be given consideration.

Disability applicants who live within the Metro pole may submit a written request to the Student Support Services Registrar, who will then inform the Vice-Principal Education and Training Services, asking to be exempt from the distance requirement.

Living Conditions Residents of the Metropole who are applying for admission but are having to deal with intolerable living and learning conditions may ask the Student Support Services Registrar in writing to be exempt from the distance requirement. Such a request must be accompanied by evidence attesting to the condition of the applicant’s living situation.

  • Previous residence conduct and disciplinary records will be considered for residence selection for re-admission applications. In this case, the applicant may be denied further residential privileges based on the Hostel Superintendent’s recommendation.
  • If the demand for residence accommodation exceeds the availability of space, minor applicants between the ages of 17 and 20 will be given special consideration.
