Apply for NSFAS 2024-2025: The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a government-sponsored program in South Africa that offers financial assistance to undergraduate students, helping them cover the costs of their higher education after completing high school. The funding for NSFAS is provided by the Department of Higher Education and Training. If you are a South African citizen planning to study in 2024 or are currently enrolled at a public university or TVET college and meet the specified criteria, you are eligible to apply for an NSFAS bursary using the online application form for the 2024 academic year. The NSFAS online application for the 2024/2025 academic year is open from September 1 to November 30, 2024.
Who is eligible for NSFAS funding?
- South African citizens
- SASSA grant recipients
- Applicants with a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum
- Individuals with a disability and a combined household income not exceeding R600,000 per annum
- Students who began their studies before 2018 and have a household income not exceeding R122,000 per annum.
How to apply for the NSFAS online application:
You can complete the NSFAS Online Application for 2024 on your computer, iPad, or any other smartphone. Ensure you have all the necessary supporting documents and that you meet the NSFAS Application criteria for 2024 before starting the online application process. Follow the steps provided below to begin your application.
- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS
- Provide your own cellphone number and email address
- You must have a copy of your ID or birth certificate
- National ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
- The evidence of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 if necessary
- The proof of income of your parents, guardian, or spouse.
- If you are a SASSA grant recipient, you don’t need to provide any evidence of income.
- All Applicants with a disability should provide and submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
- An applicant who is known as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
