They are created with the expectation that many people will participate and that students will be in charge of their own education while taking classes with varied classmates who may be from any country in the world.

Since the coronavirus began to dominate South Africa at the beginning of March, UCT has discovered that more people are enrolling in these MOOCs. There are now over 35,000 more people enrolled.

People who are willing to learn while in lockdown have given the Center for Innovation in Learning and Teaching such great feedback, according to UCT. Independent learning has become more common for people who can’t go to school or who wish to improve their skills in these difficult economic times.

Free online courses are available as part of these MOOCs, along with peer-to-peer discussion boards, video and audio lectures, course materials, and content that can be downloaded and accessed whenever you want. To increase accessibility, each video comes with a text transcript.

23 MOOCs developed by UCT are available on various worldwide platforms. However, strong data and bandwidth are needed in order to attend these online courses due to those really global platforms.
