For admission to higher certificate or diploma programs and candidates’ educational certificates, prospective students must meet the statutory minimum requirements based on the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent school leaving certificate.

  • Levels and symbols obtained during the June/September exams for Grade 12 or confirmation that the current employer is processing study leave will be used to determine provisional admission. However, the final decision regarding enrollment at Healthnicon – Bellville Sub-Campus will be based on the applicant’s final 12th-grade grades, evidence that they have been granted study leave by their employer, and whether or not they have reached the pensionable age, which is 55 to 60 for all college programs.
    For each program, there are specific requirements. The Admission Point System, or APS, is used to assign points to your NSC or equivalent subjects:

For instance, in order to enroll in a Basic Diploma, you must have a minimum APS of 18 and an NSC/equivalent pass in Biology/Life Science at Level 4 or the D Symbol, as well as English at Level 3 or the E Symbol.

  • Due to the South African Nursing Council’s accreditation capacity, each program has a cap on the number of students it can admit. Even if you meet the minimum requirements, you won’t automatically be accepted into the program or registered. Tests and interviews will be required of candidates in order to further screen them.
    Candidates who have post-matriculant experience or a certificate related to health will be registered according to the quota for that group, which is as follows:
    Scholars: 50% of candidates who hold a certificate from pre-NSC Grade 12: 20% of candidates who have post-matric experience or a certificate related to health: 10% of Active Duty Officers: 20% Please be aware that the college’s admission requirements are subject to change, and
    will make significant investments in nurses for ECDoH facilities;
    will not invest in candidates who have tried other options, such as dropped out of universities, technical schools, or colleges;
    will not make investments in candidates who possess additional qualifications. The candidate will be disqualified in the event that this is discovered at any point during the procedure.
