Interior design is a job that allows you to design the interior of a space. To do so, you must have a thorough understanding of the various interior parts, as well as the ability to apply that knowledge to your trade. There are numerous institutes in South Africa that offer this fundamental knowledge and more in the field of Interior Design.

You must be familiar with the seven aspects of interior design in order to become a skilled interior designer. These elements include space, lines, form/shape, pattern, light, color, and texture.

There are a few university institutions in South Africa where such abilities can be studied and honed. We will concentrate on two private institutions in particular. To begin, the Independent Institute of Education (IIE)- Vega School, which has several branches throughout the country, provides more than appropriate Interior Design courses.

The college provides a three-year study program leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design, as well as a one-year study program leading to a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Interior Design.

There is also the Boston House College (BHC) School of Design, which has a more specialized specialization in Interior Design. The BHC School of Design is a private university in Woodstock, Cape Town.

The institution specializes in Interior Design and Interior Decorating, providing a 3-year Diploma in Interior Design and a 1-year Higher Certificate in Interior Decorating, as well as additional skill development programs, short courses, and so on.

These are only two of the private universities in South Africa that cater to potential students’ need to be able to take an interior space and increase its usefulness, safety, aesthetic attractiveness, and design.

All of the educational institutions we have provided have been approved and accredited by the South African Department of Education. They all offer at least a three-year full-time education in interior design, architecture, or decoration. Furthermore, as with other good design schools, their three to four-year diploma and degree programs include theoretical, practical work, and required work experience in which students are placed in the industry to gain experience, insight, and exposure before graduating.
