For admission to higher certificate or diploma programs and candidates educational certificate, prospective students must meet the statutory minimum requirements based on the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent school leaving certificate.

  • Levels and symbols obtained during the June/September exams for Grade 12 or confirmation that the current employer is processing study leave will be used to determine provisional admission. However, the final decision regarding the applicant’s enrollment at Jane Furse Hospital Nursing School will be based on the applicant’s final 12th grade grades, confirmation that the applicant has been granted study leave by the employer, and evidence that the applicant has not yet reached the pensionable age, which is 55 to 60 for all college programs.

For instance, to register for a Basic Diploma, you must have an APS of at least 18 and pass the NSC/equivalent in English at Level 3 or E Symbol and Biology/Life Science at Level 4 or D Symbol.

  • Due to the South African Nursing Council’s accreditation capacity, each program has a cap on the number of students it can admit.
