The goal of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering is to educate and train engineers who will be successful in their careers, take on leadership roles and be acknowledged on a global scale for their excellence in the conception, design, development, and operation of engineering systems that are related to mechanical and aeronautical systems.
Our goal is to give students an education that is renowned for its academic excellence, emphasis on quality, stress on the basics, and attention to systems and products found in the real world. It will offer an integrated education that combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning through a wide range of team-based design-build-operate projects, both inside and outside of a cutting-edge learning laboratory.
One of the top producers of highly qualified intellectual capital and research in the nation is the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology. The Faculty is famous for its distinctive method of invention, it’s international standing, and its connections to business.
The Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology have 14 departments, including the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, which is the biggest mechanical engineering department in South Africa. Due to the Department’s internationally recognized programs, its graduate and postgraduate students receive top-notch engineering training.
The Department has established numerous centers of excellence that are well-known internationally thanks to its top-notch academic faculty, most competent support staff, and facilities that include cutting-edge experimental and computer laboratories. The following facilities are available:
