The 2003 Education and Training of Nurses and Midwives Act 4 established Lilitha College of Nursing. The Act was intended to:

For admission to higher certificate or diploma programs and candidates’ educational certificates, prospective students must meet the statutory minimum requirements based on the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent school leaving certificate.
- Levels and symbols obtained during the June/September exams for Grade 12 or confirmation that the current employer is processing study leave will be used to determine provisional admission. However, the final decision regarding enrollment at Nessie Knight Hospital Nursing School will be based on the applicant’s final 12th-grade grades, confirmation that the applicant has been granted study leave by the employer, and evidence that the applicant has not yet reached the pensionable age, which is 55 to 60 for all college programs.

The number of students admitted to each program is limited by the accredited capacity of the South African Nursing Council.
- Applicants must meet the requirements for admission into the Diploma if she is over 18 points. Even if you meet the minimum requirements, you won’t automatically be accepted into the program or registered. Tests and interviews will be required of candidates in order to further screen them.
Candidates who have post-matriculant experience or a certificate related to health will be registered according to the quota for that group, which is as follows:
