The online application period for NSFAS for the 2024-2025 academic year is expected to commence on November 2, 2024, and conclude on January 21, 2024. Therefore, all applicants seeking to apply for NSFAS should make sure to gather the necessary supporting documents and complete their applications online.
Who qualifies for the NSFAS Online Application?
- Eligibility extends to all citizens of South Africa.
- Funding is available for all recipients of SASSA grants.
- Applicants qualify if the combined annual household income does not exceed R350,000.
- For individuals with disabilities, the combined household income limit is R600,000 per annum.
- Students who commenced their studies before 2018 and have a household income of no more than R122,000 per annum are eligible.
REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS
To facilitate the processing of your application, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will need additional information from you. Therefore, it’s essential to submit the following supporting documents to ensure the success of your application.
- Please provide your personal cellphone number and email address.
- You must possess a copy of your ID or birth certificate.
- Include copies of the national ID documents for your parents, guardians, or spouse.
- If required, provide evidence of your income or one year’s IRP5.
- Additionally, include proof of income for your parents, guardian, or spouse.
- SASSA grant recipients do not need to provide income documentation.
- Applicants with disabilities should submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.
- Applicants identified as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development should also submit a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
