With an average of 650 postgraduate students and a completion rate of 85%, the Department of Nursing and Midwifery has enhanced its program offerings in both clinical and non-clinical programs today. Honors, master’s, and doctoral degrees are offered in postgraduate programs, as well as postgraduate diplomas in primary healthcare, critical care nursing, operating room nursing, advanced midwifery, advanced psychiatry, nursing education, and nursing management. With the University of the Western Cape serving as the enrolling university and SU serving as the offering university, the Basic Nursing Degree is provided as a combined degree on a “Common Teaching Platform” in the Western Cape.

The university’s vision and goals are closely matched with those of the department of nursing and midwifery. The transformation into a degree of excellence in nursing practice, leadership, and scholarship is the “Challenge of Hope” process.
