nursing courses first year 2024-2025
Before taking the exam to become registered nurses, students must complete a two-year academic program that includes 2,000 hours of clinical practice.
The following topics are covered in the first year:
- Nursing history and ethics
- Basic nursing care
- Elementary nutrition
- First aid
- Elementary anatomy and physiology
- Introduction to comprehensive health care
The second year covers the fundamental sciences of basic nursing and may include one of the following subjects, depending on the subject matter the nursing school is authorized to teach:
- General nursing care
- Nursing care of the aged
- Nursing care of mentally retarded persons
- Community nursing care
- Psychiatric nursing care
There are many different types of nurses. There are diploma and degree options for registered nurses. They both work the same way. The color strips on the maroon epaulets indicate a Registered Nurse with a general nursing diploma (all Registered Nurses have a general nursing diploma). There are also a variety of courses that can be taken.
- Yellow is Community nursing
- Green is Midwifery
- Dark blue is psychiatric
- White is nursing education
- Silver is for nursing management
An enrolled nurse (staff nurse) with white epaulets assists registered nurses with their responsibilities and provides assistance to the lower category of nurses when required. The majority of hospitals have staff nurses who assist with doctor rounds and give medications. Staff nurses are also guided by their scope of practice, and the Registered Nurse oversees both directly and indirectly over their work. The staff nurse is held accountable for her actions if she accepts a duty.
The button for registered nursing assistants is blue. They ensure that the patient’s comfort and all requirements are met. They do everything that falls within their area of expertise. Without the direct supervision of a registered nurse, enrolled nurses cannot penetrate a patient’s body or skin.
