You can accomplish one of the following in order to become a nurse:
- a four-year bachelor’s degree in nursing (BCur, or Bachelor of Nursing Science, Education, and Administration), a three-year diploma, a one-year higher certificate in auxiliary nursing, or a one-year postgraduate advanced diploma in nursing and midwifery in addition to your degree or diploma.
After receiving your certification, you will be required to perform one year of mandatory community service and register with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) by passing an exam.
