The challenge of equipping future nurses with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) necessary to continuously improve the quality and safety of the healthcare systems in which they work is the focus of the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) project. Information on the core QSEN competencies, KSAs, teaching methods, and faculty development resources designed to best support this goal can be found on this website.
QSEN Initiatives
- proposed goals for the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that should be developed in nursing pre-licensure programs for each of the quality and safety competencies: quality improvement, safety, patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, and informatics
Finished a public overview of baccalaureate program pioneers and a state review of partner degree instructors to evaluate convictions about the degree to which the skills are remembered for current educational plans, the degree of fulfillment with understudy capability accomplishment, and the degree of workforce mastery in showing the skills.
drafted proposed graduate education knowledge, skill, and attitude targets in partnership with advanced practice nursing organization representatives.
financed work with 15 pilot schools that have pledged to actively participate in curricular change to incorporate safety and quality skills.
