Student housing is a critical requirement for the majority of college students.

While the university is unable to accommodate all needy students in residence, a commitment to managing our residences is upheld to ensure an improved quality of life and education. Given that communal living is the norm, and our homes serve as more than just places for rest and meals, it is vital to respect others’ rights and embrace diversity, avoiding a narrow mindset.

SPU students can choose between university-owned housing and approved external housing. All resident students are provided with guidelines governing the management and governance of SPURes, known as residence regulations. These rules are primarily motivated by the well-being of students and the creation of a residential community that consistently supports academic pursuits, intellectual engagement, as well as personal and social development.

Residents and staff at Sol Plaatje University residences are expected to consistently align with these ideals. Students accepting residence are accountable for adhering to these conditions, and any potential violations are their responsibility.

SPURes is closed during summer and winter holidays, and students are required to vacate their rooms within 48 hours after the final exam.
