Request for SPU Residency 2024-2025
On this page, you can read more about SPU’s student housing options.
- In order to achieve academic excellence, it is essential to provide students with high-quality housing that is inclusive and offers opportunities for success. Such assistance is essential for ensuring the academic success of university students and for supporting their student life and extracurricular activities, which help them develop the life skills they will need for a future career or profession.
- Student housing is a critical need for the majority of college students.
- We are committed to managing our own residences in a way that ensures an improved quality of life and education, even though the University is unable to house all of its needy students in residence. Because communal living is the norm and because our homes are more than just places to sleep and eat, it is essential to respect others’ rights and guard against having a narrow mindset become overwhelmed by diversity.
- Students at SPU have a choice between university-owned housing and housing that has been approved for their use.
- All resident students have access to a set of guidelines regarding the management and governance of SPURes. These are the residence regulations.
- The primary motivations behind the rules are our student’s well-being and the development of a residential community that is constantly supportive of academic pursuits, intellectual engagement, as well as personal and social development.
- Everyone who lives in or works at one of the Sol Plaatje University residences is expected to always act in line with these ideals. These conditions are expected to be accepted by students who will be residing there, and they are accountable for any possible violations.
- SPURes are closed over the summer and winter holidays.
- Students must leave their rooms 48 hours after the final exam.
