Who is eligible for NSFAS Funding?

  • South African citizenship is a prerequisite.
  • SASSA grant recipients automatically qualify for funding.
  • Applicants with a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum meet the criteria.
  • Individuals with disabilities can apply if their combined household income is below R600,000 per annum.
  • Students who commenced their studies before 2018 are eligible if their household income is under R122,000 per annum.

Mandatory Supporting Documents for NSFAS Account Registration:

To complete your online NSFAS Bursary Application for 2024-2025, ensure you have the following:

  • Your personal phone number and email address.
  • A copy of your ID or birth certificate.
  • Copies of identification cards for parents, guardians, or spouse.
  • One year’s worth of IRP5 or proof of income, if applicable.
  • Proof of income from parents, guardians, or spouse.
  • SASSA grant recipients do not need to provide proof of income.
  • Disabled applicants should submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure.
  • Applicants identified as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development must also submit a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

How to Apply for NSFAS Online:

  • Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za.
  • Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
  • Create a myNSFAS account (instructions available on the website).
  • Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab.
  • Update your personal information.
  • Respond to the on-screen questions.
  • Upload all required supporting documents.
  • Finally, click on ‘submit.’
