Who is eligible for NSFAS Funding?
- South African citizenship is a prerequisite.
- SASSA grant recipients automatically qualify for funding.
- Applicants with a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum meet the criteria.
- Individuals with disabilities can apply if their combined household income is below R600,000 per annum.
- Students who commenced their studies before 2018 are eligible if their household income is under R122,000 per annum.
Mandatory Supporting Documents for NSFAS Account Registration:
To complete your online NSFAS Bursary Application for 2024-2025, ensure you have the following:
- Your personal phone number and email address.
- A copy of your ID or birth certificate.
- Copies of identification cards for parents, guardians, or spouse.
- One year’s worth of IRP5 or proof of income, if applicable.
- Proof of income from parents, guardians, or spouse.
- SASSA grant recipients do not need to provide proof of income.
- Disabled applicants should submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure.
- Applicants identified as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development must also submit a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
How to Apply for NSFAS Online:
- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za.
- Click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab.
- Create a myNSFAS account (instructions available on the website).
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab.
- Update your personal information.
- Respond to the on-screen questions.
- Upload all required supporting documents.
- Finally, click on ‘submit.’
