Please continue reading to learn how to create a SASSA account online.

In place of the Department of Social Development, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is a national government organization that disburses social grants.

These social grants are given to those who need state assistance and are at risk of poverty, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and parents of young children. They aim to raise the standards of living in society.

Observe these steps if you’ve been wondering how to create a SASSA account online:

  • Go to: https://services.sassa.gov.za/Account/Register
  • Complete the user registration form
  • Give your contact information, including your name, surname, ID number, etc.
  • In addition to your phone number, including your email address.
  • (Be sure to regularly update and use your contact information as you may receive communication from SASSA on it.)
  • Give your password, which you will use to access your SASSA account.

You can sign into your online SASSA account after creating one to submit grant applications.

All applicants must be citizens of South Africa, lawful permanent residents, or in-country refugees.

SASSA launches online grant application portal

Starting on Monday, September 14, 2020, applicants for some social grants will be able to submit their applications online. At this time, Child Support, Older Persons, and Foster Child grants will be covered by the pilot project. Applications may be submitted through the secure website https://services.sassa.gov.za. Other grants will be added to the portal after the system is reviewed.

Grant applicants should feel relieved about this since it will spare them the inconvenience of having to wait in lines at SASSA offices to apply for their grants. The convenience of online applications also has the added benefit of removing the risk of COVID-19 infection because there will be no need to congregate in public areas to submit an application. Both a computer and a mobile device will be able to perform this remote self-service. If the applicant provides all the required documentation, including identity documents for the applicant and spouse as well as banking information, the turnaround time is 10 days.

The following SASSA services will be accessible as a result:

  • applications for grants for child support, older people, and foster children
  • online submission of the application’s necessary supporting documents;
  • changes in the payment method, banking information, or address;
  • Status of application

Applicants must have an email address in order to sign up for this service and log in to use other services. If an applicant doesn’t have an email address, feedback will be sent to them via SMS, and if they choose to be contacted by email, feedback will be sent to them via email. When the application is finished, a receipt is generated.

From September 14 through September 25, 2020, the system will be tested. It is crucial to remember that any supporting documents you include must be certified. An oath commissioner should certify these documents.
