More than 11.2 million people have applied for the special Covid-19 R350 Social Relief of Distress grant since the beginning of August.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has requested that applicants provide their banking information so that their R350 grants can be processed more quickly.

How to Update Your Banking Information

If you are a SASSA SRD R350 Grant-approved beneficiary and want to change your banking information, please follow the steps outlined below.

• Step 1: Visit the SASSA website https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
• Step 2: Find the ‘How do I change my banking details
• Step 3: Insert your ID number
• Step 4: An SMS with a secure link will be sent to the mobile phone number you provided during the application.
• Step 5: Go to the link in the SMS.
• Step 6: Select the option for bank account information. Fill in your banking information (It must be your personal bank account).

SASSA will not be able to pay your grant into a mobile phone number registered to another person.

People who do not provide their banking information will have to pick up their grant at the post office. It is important to note that the Post Office does not issue SRD R350 grants on days when disability, old age, and other social grants are distributed.
