Is your R350 grant application being rejected due to UIF registration? Here’s what you can do if your application is rejected.

There are numerous reasons why your Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant application may have been denied, but one of the most common is because of the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF).

If an SRD grant application is denied due to UIF registration, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) advises applicants to file an appeal. Thus, if you are one of those affected, here is a step-by-step guide on how to submit an R350 grant appeal.

Go to the Sassa Appeals website and complete the following actions:

  • Enter ID number
  • Enter telephone number
  • Lodge appeal

You will also be asked to sign a declaration and consent form, confirming the accuracy of the information you have provided, as it will be shared with other organizations and financial institutions such as SARS and banks. The SASSA website contains a detailed declaration and consent document.

After you file your appeal, SASSA will verify your employment status with the UIF and notify you of the outcome.

Furthermore, you must confirm your existing application once via the Sassa website or the WhatsApp number: 082 046 8553.

SASSA has also advised applicants to contact them on their Toll-Free number 0800 60 10 11 rather than visiting their labor centers for assistance with this matter.

If your 350 SRD grant application was denied because of UIF registration, this is how you can appeal the decision.

SASSA has set up a procedure for applicants whose 350 SRD grant has been denied due to UIF registration to file an appeal. Instead of going to the labor department, this is how you can process your appeal.

Visit https://srd.sassa.gov.za and fill out the following form:

  • Identity Number or Department of Home Affairs Refugee permit number
  • Name and Surname as captured in the Identity Document
  • Gender and Disability
  • Contact details – Cell phone number
  • Residential Address
You will also be required to sign a declaration and consent form confirming the accuracy of the information you have provided because it will be shared with other organizations and financial institutions such as SARS and banks. The website contains a detailed declaration and consent document.
Applicants must also confirm their existing application through the Sassa website or the WhatsApp number: 082 046 8553.

Once the appeal is filed, SASSA will verify your employment status with the UIF and notify you of the outcome.

Applicants are also encouraged to contact SASSA on their Toll-Free number 0800 60 10 11 rather than going to labor centers for help with this matter.
