Unclaimed SRD grant funds may still be collected, according to SASSA. The second round of the SRD grant is currently underway and will end in March.

The unclaimed R350 grant payments from the first round have now been released, according to a statement released by SASSA on Tuesday morning.
Beneficiaries previously had a deadline by which they had to claim grants that they had not already claimed in the first round, according to SASSA. The organization then stated that any unpaid SASSA grants after the cutoff date would be forfeited and given to the National Treasury for redistribution.
According to a recent statement from SASSA, those “whose unclaimed funds from the first round of the grant were to be forfeited on 31 August, can still collect their unclaimed funds.”

You must take your ID to the closest Post Office and collect it at that location.

The Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu, made this important development possible through the recently published Ministerial Directions.

The deadline for claiming these unclaimed R350 grants has been extended to 30 November.

The SRD SASSA grant money that is not collected will once again be “forfeited to the State to fund other government priorities,” as stated by SASSA.

Busisiwe Memela-Khambula, the CEO of SASSA, said:

  • It’s an early Christmas for the first cycle’s approved beneficiaries who could not claim their benefits at the Post Office. We welcome this decision which was brought about by the visionary leadership of Minister Lindiwe Zulu.

The CEO continued by highlighting how the SRD grant helps those who are most in need and urging those who have unclaimed SASSA grants to claim their SRD grant funds as soon as they can.
