Contact number:
- If your application is rejected, it could be because you have just changed your cell phone number.
- The payment system’s fraud detection techniques include verifying an applicant’s cell phone number against other government databases.
- The system will reject an application if a candidate previously provided one cell phone number to a company like the SA Revenue Service or the Unemployment Insurance Fund and now tries to apply using a different number.
Address:
- You do not need to submit address evidence, but you must offer one.
How is it paid out?
- The banks from which recipients can choose to withdraw money from ATMs if they don’t have bank accounts are varied.
- People without bank accounts will receive money thanks to the large banks’ cash-sending capabilities.
- The only information needed to withdraw money from these systems, such as First National Bank’s eWallet and Absa’s CashSend, is basic information sent to a cell phone number; no card or other means of identity verification are necessary.
For the time being, there are no store vouchers.
Other government subsidies
FAQ: I’m unemployed and applied for the COVID-19 grant at SASSA, but my application was denied with the response ‘Registered at SARS for PAYE’ or ‘Receiving an income’.
- It should be noted that SASSA is the one who decides whether or not to pay the grant. According to SASSA, you must be unemployed (without a source of income) and not receiving UIF or any other aid to be eligible for the grant. Please notify SASSA at srd@sassa.gov.za if you believe this is inaccurate.
