The University Council established the UNISA Ombudsman’s office to improve UNISA’s service delivery and to promote a culture of effective and efficient administration. The University Council-approved founding document gives the Ombudsman his or her authority.

The Ombudsman’s job is to look into written complaints submitted by anyone who feels wronged by the University’s or its employees’ conduct that has resulted in unanticipated prejudice. The Ombudsman is a suitably qualified, experienced, and independent person (i.e., neither a student nor an employee of UNISA).

The goal of the Ombudsman’s office’s service is to settle disputes in a way that is reasonably quick, efficient, and affordable.

Please review the following checklist if you think your issue is ready for the Ombudsman’s attention.

  • Do you feel wronged by the poor service and administrative errors?
  • Have you used up all of your internal complaint procedures and remedies?
  • Do you have the referral form completed?
  • Have you included any pertinent correspondence you exchanged with the UNISA Department(s) and the outcome of their communication with you?

Please do not hesitate to contact the Ombudsman’s Office at Ombudsman@unisa.ac.za. Ombudsman@unisa.ac.za if you answered “yes” to ALL of the questions above. WE ARE READY TO ASSIST YOU.
