In South Africa, there are 50 certified public Tvet colleges. With the help of the Department of Higher Education and Training, 1 238 000 students will be able to enroll in TVET Colleges between 2019 and 2020. The vast number of South Africans currently enrolled in Tvet Colleges is evidence that they are still in the early phases of development.
- The term “Technical and Vocational Education and Training” relates to the occupational or vocational nature of the programs and suggests that they are made to prepare students for a particular job, a range of career options, or self-employment. Young people are primarily trained in TVET institutions to acquire the knowledge, abilities, and attitudes necessary for employment.
They encourage students who wish to complete their education as well as those who want to enroll in vocational programs after earning a high school diploma in Grade 9 or Grade 12.
