For the two months of June and July, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has begun processing grant payments totaling R350. Sassa says that they were unable to process R350 grant payments for April and May because the department of Social Development (DSD) was working to finalize a functional verification process. As a result, beneficiaries of the grant have been confronted with confusion as their R350 grant status remains pending for those months. In order to ensure that all systems are in place for the grant’s disbursement, this functional verification procedure was required.

The agency revealed that April R350 grant payments will be made during the month of July, and May R350 grant payments will be made in August, now that the new verification process has been completed by Sassa.

“April verification’s and payments resumed on 12 July 2022. May 2022 verification has not yet started, therefore the status remains pending for the month of May”, explained Sassa.

Sassa also revealed that applicants for the R350 grant are required to resubmit their applications at least once every three months.

Sassa is informed by the reconfirmation of R350 grant applications that applicants still require and meet the requirements for the grant. Sassa went on to say that previous applicants can always update their responses to the screening questionnaire if their circumstances change or they need to correct mistakes.
