This page provides further details about accommodation options for Wits in the academic year 2024–2025.

New Undergraduates at the University

• Please note that all applications must be submitted by September 30 of each year. Applications submitted after the cutoff date won’t be considered.
• Prior to moving in, you must contribute R10000 toward your yearly residence fees.
• 75 percent of the cost of living must be covered by international students.
• NSFAS students need to have a provisional or firm acceptance before they can move in.
• When registering, bursary recipients are required to present proof of their bursary.

Students who are currently enrolled at Wits but do not live on campus

• Applications for self-service are accepted online. Please get in touch with the Central Accommodation Office at Solomon Mahlangu House, Room SH045 on the Ground Floor.
• September 30 is the deadline for undergraduate applications.
• You will have three (3) days to accept a rental offer once you receive one. After the predetermined amount of time, the offer will expire.

Students who are currently living in a residence

• The following year’s readmission to university housing is not a given.
• Students’ disciplinary and academic records are taken into account when deciding whether to grant readmission applications.
• Applications for readmission must be submitted online by September 30.
• Please use self-service to apply for a different residence if you want to switch from the one you’re in right now.

Students pursuing advanced degrees (New to Wits)

• Applications for residence can be submitted online.
• Prior to moving in, you must contribute R10000 toward your yearly residence fees.
• 75 percent of the cost of living must be covered by international students.
• NSFAS students need to have a provisional or firm acceptance before they can move in.
• Students receiving financial aid must present identification when registering.
• Applications for lodging must be submitted by October 30.
