On September 11, 2003, the late Minister, Prof. Kadar Asmal, inaugurated the terrain for the then Further Education and Training (FET) sector when he opened Central Johannesburg TVET College (CJC) at our Alexandra Campus. The current Minister, Dr. Bonginkosi E. Nzimande, has changed the name of FET to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The Department of Higher Education and Training is in charge of South Africa’s 50 public TVET colleges (DHET). In Gauteng, there are eight TVET colleges. Ellis Park, Parktown, Alexandra, Riverlea, Langlaagte, Crown Mines, Smit Street, and Troyeville are the College’s eight campuses.
