Closing Dates for NSFAS 2024-2025: The NSFAS application is available to all South African citizens who meet the eligibility criteria for funding. Students are strongly encouraged to submit their applications for NSFAS Funding for the 2024-2025 academic year online. The NSFAS application period for this year is scheduled to open on November 2 and will close on January 21, 2024. Please note that late applications will not be taken into consideration. It’s important to have the necessary supporting documents ready when submitting your application
How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application when opened
You can complete the NSFAS Online Application for 2024 on your computer, iPad, or any other smartphone. Prior to applying online, ensure that you have all the necessary supporting documents and meet the eligibility criteria for application. If you meet the NSFAS Application criteria for 2024, proceed with the online application process. Follow the steps below to begin:
- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS
In order to facilitate the processing of your application, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will need additional information from you. To ensure the success of your application, you must provide the following supporting documents.
- Please furnish your personal cellphone number and email address.
- You are required to possess a copy of your ID or birth certificate.
- Include copies of the national IDs of your parents, guardians, or spouse.
- Submit evidence of your income, or an IRP5 for one year if necessary.
- Provide proof of income for your parents, guardian, or spouse.
- If you are a SASSA grant recipient, there is no need to provide income documentation.
- All applicants with disabilities should complete and sign the Disability Annexure A Form and submit it.
- An applicant recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also complete and sign the Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?
- Eligibility extends to all South African citizens.
- Funding is available for all recipients of SASSA grants.
- Applicants qualify if the combined annual household income does not exceed R350,000.
- For individuals with disabilities, the combined household income limit is R600,000 per annum.
- Students who began their studies before 2018 and have a household income of no more than R122,000 per annum are eligible.
