In response to Covid-19 and its economic impact, the South African government established a new Sassa grant known as the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, also known colloquially as the R350 grant.

Before applying, applicants must ensure that they meet the following qualifying requirements:

• Citizens of South Africa/permanent residents/refugees/asylum seekers/holders of special permits
  Unemployed
  have no other way to support themselves or make a living.
  There are no other social grants, UIFs, or NSFASs given out to people between the ages of 18 and 60.

How to Apply for the R350 Grant Online in 2024

• Visit the SRD website.
• Scroll down to the section under ‘How do I apply for this SRD Grant?’ and click on the yellow bar.
• Enter your mobile phone number.
• Click “send sms,” then enter the one-time pin sent by Sassa to the number.
• Continue the application procedure by following Sassa’s instructions.

All applicants will be required to sign a declaration and consent form because SASSA will work with other institutions to verify the information offered by applicants.

You only need to apply once per channel, not multiple times. Each applicant can only submit one application to Sassa. After their submissions have been processed, SASSA will contact the successful applicants.
