The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) stated that orphan caretakers will be eligible for a higher payment amount. This will better prepare them to deal with the country’s rising cost of living.

The Sassa Child Support Grant (CSG) Top Up is intended to assist relatives caring for orphans in meeting their basic needs. Its primary goal is to keep children in the care of extended family members.

These kids will receive the R480 base CSG as well as an additional R240, for a total of R720.

Now, caregivers who qualify can apply for the CSG Top Up online and at any SASSA local office.
