While universities continue to be a popular option for many people seeking to further their education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges are an excellent way to gain skills.

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges provide vocational or occupational courses. They provide students with skills and knowledge in preparation for employment in a specific range of jobs.

TVET colleges provide a diverse range of courses in a variety of industries and disciplines. Agriculture, engineering, primary health care, information technology, hospitality, and many other courses are available.

They provide the National Certificate (Vocational) and National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) programs, which are also known as “Report 191” programs.

To pass an instruction offering, students must achieve 40% in the combination of the term mark and the examination mark in a 40:60 ratio, according to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).

Students can also enroll in a TVET college to complete their Grade 12 or “Matric” qualification.

Students who have completed Grade 12 can continue their education by obtaining a higher level TVET college qualification or by attending university. This is determined by the outcomes they received.

The term ‘TVET’ denotes a state-owned institution. As a result, students interested in obtaining a TVET college qualification may also be eligible for a National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas) bursary.
