UKZN Online application requirements 2024-2025

For Undergraduate Students:
- Academic transcripts, including Senior Certificate.
- Identification document (ID) for South African applicants or passport for international students.
- Additional documents as specified for certain programs.
For Postgraduate Students:
- Tertiary school transcripts.
- Identification document (ID) for South African applicants or passport for international students.
- Any additional documents required for the chosen postgraduate program.
For International Students:
- Non-refundable application fee (if applicable).
- Identification document (passport).
- Academic transcripts with sworn translations if not in English or Afrikaans.
- Additional documents as specified for certain programs.
Undergraduate Requirements
- 1.1 Applicants for an undergraduate degree must hold a National Senior Certificate for Degree Studies (NSC-Deg) or a Senior Certificate with endorsement.
- 1.2 Applicants for an undergraduate diploma must have a National Senior Certificate for Diploma Studies (NSC-Dip) or Senior Certificate. To learn more, follow this link.
Requirements for Postgraduate Education
- A suitable Bachelor’s degree OR admission to the status of that degree under Rule GR7(a) OR Attained the level of competence specified in Rule GR7 (b)
- Additional criteria for admission to study may be established by a School/College. College Handbooks are available at www.ukzn.ac.za.
- Some schools/colleges may accept an Advanced Diploma for entry into a Postgraduate Diploma if the HEQF (Higher Education Qualification Framework) requirements are met. To learn more, follow this link.
Students from other countries Requirements
- International applicants are chosen based on academic merit and the availability of available spaces. Non-South African school leavers must contact the South African Matriculation Board directly to determine their eligibility for admission to South African degree studies. - International applicants with two A-levels (‘A’ – ‘E’) and three O-level passes (‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’) or equivalent may be eligible for exemption via AEB or Cambridge exams. However, certain subject groupings are also required. Simply passing O-levels is insufficient. To learn more, follow this link.
