Before completing an online application to UKZN for the 2024 academic year, please include the necessary supporting papers.

• Authenticated copy of your ID/passport
• If you are an international student, you must have a valid study visa to study in South Africa.
• Make sure you have the USAF/SAQA paperwork ready to upload.
• Authenticated copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate, O/A Levels, or other relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
• If you are an international applicant, you must produce verification from Universities South Africa (formerly known as HESA) that you are eligible for admission to degree programs at South African universities.
• If you attended other universities, please provide certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct.
• International applicants from non-English speaking nations must provide proof of English competency.
• If the previous qualification(s) was/were achieved at a foreign university, the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluates it (outside South Africa).

How to Apply for the 2024-2025 UKZN Undergraduate Online Application

• Applying for admission to a UKZN Undergraduate program for the 2024 academic year is primarily done online. South African undergraduate applicants for the first time must apply through the Central Application Office (CAO).

To apply through CAO, complete the steps below:

• Visit the CAO website at www.cao.ac.za.
  At the top of the page, select the “Apply” tab.
  Before proceeding, please read the application instructions.
• Then, select “Continue with Application.”
  Enter your ID or passport number and press the “Submit” button.
  Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and select “Continue with Application.”
  Enter the necessary information and then click “Next.”
  Then click the “Continue with Online Application” button.
  Complete the online application by following the instructions.
  Then, submit your online application for review.

By letter, fax, or email, the CAO will acknowledge receipt of applications; applicants must confirm their basic information and choices, offer information on special program needs, and list pending documentation. As soon as a decision is made, the CAO notifies applicants through SMS.

Follow the procedures below to apply directly to UKZN:

• On page one of the application form, list your program preferences. Please give the complete name of the program.
• If you have previously registered, enter your existing student number on page one of the application form.
• Indicate whether you want to be considered for housing in one of the UKZN residences.
• Please include your payment evidence.
• Return your completed application form, along with any required documents and evidence of application fee payment, to the address on the front cover by the closing date, or email it to Applications@ukzn.ac.za.
• A UKZN student number will be assigned to new applicants.
• All correspondence/inquiries to the UKZN must include your student number.
• The UKZN will notify you in writing or through SMS of the outcome of your application.
