NSFAS Dates for 2024-2025: The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) was established in 1996 with the aim of enabling students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access higher education. Online applications for NSFAS have specific opening and closing dates. The NSFAS application cycle will span four months, commencing on August 3 and concluding on November 30 this year. Officials from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) strongly advise applicants to submit their applications within the designated application period and ensure they do so in a timely manner to prevent potential rejection of their applications.
Who is eligible for NSFAS funding?
- All South African citizens
- All recipients of SASSA grants qualify for funding
- Applicants with a combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum
- Individuals with disabilities, where the combined household income must not exceed R600,000 per annum
- Students who commenced their studies before 2018, with a household income not exceeding R122,000 per annum
Documents required during the application process:
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will necessitate additional information from you to facilitate the processing of your application. Therefore, you must provide the following supporting documents to ensure the success of your application:
- Your personal cellphone number and email address
- A copy of your ID card or birth certificate
- National ID copies of your parents, guardians, or spouse
- Proof of income or an annual IRP5 statement, if necessary
- Evidence of the income of your parents, guardian, or spouse
- If you are a recipient of a SASSA grant, you are not required to provide proof of income
- All applicants with a disability must supply a fully completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
- Applicants identified as Vulnerable Children by the Department of Social Development should also submit a fully completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application when opened
You can fill out the NSFAS Online Application for 2024 on your computer, iPad, or any other smartphone. Make sure you have all of your supporting documentation and that you are eligible to apply before applying online. Continue the online application procedure if you meet the NSFAS Application criteria for 2024. Follow the steps below to get started:
- Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
- Update your personal information
- Answer the questions you see on the screen
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Finally, you click on ‘submit
How to Check NSFAS Application Status
In order to check NSFAS Application Status, you must follow the simple steps below:
- Visit NSFAS Status website: www.nsfas.org.za
- Then, log in to myNSFAS account, if you don’t have one, create one. Click HERE
- Enter your User ID
- Type in the password you created during the application process.
- Click “Track Funding Progress” to check your NSFAS Application Status.
