sassa 350 relief grant 2024-2025
Citizens in need can receive social grants from the South African government. In South Africa, social grants are managed by the SASSA. Social grants are available to those who are in need of help raising their standard of living but are at risk of going hungry. The elderly, people with disabilities, and parents of young children are frequently among these. You must be a citizen of South Africa, a legal permanent resident, or a refugee in order to qualify for a social grant (proof of such status must be provided). They must also be South African citizens.
What is a means test?
- A “means test” is applied to some social benefits, including child support, disability, care dependency, and social relief of distress. Based on your income and assets, SASSA will use the means test to determine whether you qualify for a social grant. Your eligibility for a grant intended for people who cannot afford to live independently is determined by the means test.
Care dependency allowance
Parents who work full-time and have disabled children may be eligible for care dependence grants. How much money will be distributed in total as part of this grant?
- R1 860 per child, per month.
How do you know if you’re eligible for the grant?
- To be eligible for the care dependency grant, the child must be under the age of 18 and permanently disabled, as determined by a medical officer. If you’re married, you and your spouse must both meet the minimum eligibility standards for the means test. The articles below will assist you with your Sassa application.
