A huge variety of vocational courses are offered by TVET colleges, enabling students to get ready for a variety of occupations. TVET colleges offer four primary types of credentials: National Certificate Vocational (NC(V)), Report 191 Programs, National Introductory Certificate (N4), and National Certificates (N4).
National Certificate Vocational – NC(V)
In general, NC(V) programs last three years and start after grade 9, advancing you from an NQF level 2 qualification (grade 9) to an NQF level 4 qualification. Since this level is equivalent to a traditional matric, you can apply to study at most technology universities and for some university courses. The TVET College offers advanced certificate programs.

Report 191 Programmes
These programs are especially geared toward engineering and give you the option to pursue a national diploma in engineering studies or work in a variety of engineering professions. Although these courses are not equivalent to the degrees offered by South African universities, you are still eligible to pursue a national diploma in engineering and then continue your studies to earn a BTech degree in engineering. highlighting the distinctions between engineering degrees and diplomas.

After completing either an NC(V) or Report 191 qualification, you can pursue National Introductory Certificates and National Certificates. In order to pursue a National Certificate without having to redo some of your post-secondary education, National Introductory Certificates are frequently used as a qualification.
