- So you’ve decided to study at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). One of the things you should be aware of before submitting your application to TUT is the APS calculation.
- Admission Point Score is abbreviated as APS. Universities in South Africa use APS points to determine whether applicants are qualified for their programs. TUT employs a calculation for APS that is unique to the university. It can be used by applicants to calculate their scores.
- Applicants must have a minimum APS or fall within the testing band to be eligible for a specific program. In general, for each matric topic for which you write an exam, you will receive points.
- To calculate your APS, add your top six subjects (excluding Life Orientation).
- The number of points you receive for each course is based on your percentage in that subject.
- Your APS score is made up of the total points you earn from each course.
- Remember that meeting the bare minimum criteria may not be enough to get you into your desired degree program, so aim for the highest possible grades.
As part of your application, this institution requires you to write a National Benchmark Test (NBT). More information about the NBT tests can be found here. Get started right away!
