All clients who wish to apply for social grants have been informed by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) that stringent measures will be put in place.

This entails imposing strict social segregation and only serving a set number of clients each day.

The following schedule is for the daily operations:

• Monday and Tuesday: Old age grants applications
• Applications for foster care and child support grants are due on Wednesday and Thursday.
• Friday: Extra applications from Wednesday and Thursday, as well as appointments for disability grants or care dependency grants where Sassa had medical exams before the lockdown. (At the South African Post Office, SASSA cards will be issued, PINs will be reset, and cards will be replaced.)

Social grant payments for senior citizens and people with disabilities will be made on June 3 and June 4.

Starting on May 5, other social grants will be paid. The payment date advances to the following working day if either the third or the fifth falls on a weekend or a holiday.

In order to obtain accurate information and clarification when there is a misunderstanding, beneficiaries must use authorized Sassa communication channels or stop by regional offices.

They will be shielded from the various social media scams by doing this.
