Many people are severely vulnerable as a result of the tragic circumstances brought on by the floods in KwaZulu-Natal. In response to the floods, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has declared that it will offer Social Relief of Distress to anyone affected.

If a person is unable to cover their basic needs, the SRD may be able to help. This assistance is given in the form of school clothing and food coupons for pupils who have lost their school uniforms due to the crisis.

How to Submit an Application for a Food Voucher

  • Give a social worker or a ward councilor at your local government your contact information.
  • Following the evaluation, your application for the food voucher is handled right away. The voucher will be given to you once your application has been accepted.
  • The voucher is only valid for one month.
  • Sassa noted that it is expected that people’s life will return to normal and that other types of SRD, including the R350, will remain available to those in need.
