In 1943, Benjamin Damelin established the private college now known as Damelin. Damelin is owned by the Educor (the Education Investment Corporation Limited) group and has 17 campuses. Damelin offers degrees, diplomas, and other higher education credentials, but according to South Africa’s tertiary institution laws, it is regarded as a college rather than a university. The oldest and most successful educational subsidiary owned by Educor is Damelin. More than a million students had graduated from Damelin by November 2012.

• Leo Chetty owns A1 Capital, which includes the fully owned division Educor. It is one of the biggest African providers of educational services.

Registration and accreditation

• Accreditation with one of the 33 Education & Training Quality Assurance organizations (ETQAs), which are in turn recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority, is necessary for educational institutions in South Africa (SAQA).
• Damelin and its many campuses have received provisional accreditation from Umalusi, the highest level of recognition offered by that ETQA.
• Additionally, Damelin is listed on the Department of Higher Education and Training of South Africa’s private higher and further education & training provider registries for a longer range of credentials. Through its network of foreign affiliations, Damelin also provides learners based in South Africa with a means of obtaining credentials, licenses, and certificates issued by numerous international organizations.

Is Damelin College Recognised?

• All recognized qualifications in South Africa are listed in one central location under the NQF. Damelin is able to offer these qualifications, which are all post-school level and are on NQF Levels 5 to 10 because it is a registered higher education institution.

Is Damelin a TVET institution?
